Does anyone know if there will be any radio broadcast from Buff State? I know the news will probably have their Prep Talk Blog going. Out of town people are asking..

Olean will likely bring its radio crew, but that's probably all.

No love for the St. Marys PA guy?

Jamestown's WJTN 1240 AM should be there for Jamestown's games, and possibly Cassadaga Valley's as well.

WOW Dunkirk goes down at Buff State! I have NEVER seen Lackawanna play THAT hard or that good of D. It was like a totally different team from the past few years they were up here. Nice win 4 C Valley 2. Felt bad 4 them after the Middle College massacre last year so glad 2 c them in the final. Though I think they lose 2 either team Saturday.

Lackawanna plays like that they could end up in Glens Falls no joke.

Did Bomasuto end up fouling out early in the 2nd half?

Great defensive performance from Lackawanna.

Alexander pressured the ball very well, Cheatom rebounded very efficiently, over taller players and Daley came up with some huge offensive rebounds late. Welch also made some strong plays, particularly in the first half.

This game really showed just how weak a schedule Dunkirk played and that they had not seen a team like Lackawanna that could match them in speed and quickness. Dunkirk had negligible fast break opportunities, let alone points. Even if Bomasuto wasn't in early foul trouble, I still feel Lackawanna wins this game. He was defended superbly in the second half when he was in the game. Foley had an excellent game plan and it's nice to see a Lackawanna team that was actually receptive and responsive to coaching. Alexander and Cheatom showed good maturity and hopefully have grown and learned from their earlier troubles this year.

I agree MIG...they have the ability to get past the regionals...no section V B team is incredibly good and they will be a matchup problem for the rest of the teams left in B.

I don't see Lackawanna beating Dunkirk as an upset at all. I think Dunkirk was the most overrated team in Class B and had the most inflated undefeated record in the state of New York. Where was Bomasuto's 40+ when it really mattered? Congrats to Lackawanna and Coach Foley with a great game plan. A well deserved win by the Steelers

Although, I disagree in regards to the Class B section V teams. Mynderse, last years Class C Section V representative returns a majority of their team, has only one loss against arguably Section V's best team in Aquinas and has wins over larger schools in Franklin, Geneva (twice), Pal Mac, and Newark. Their more battle tested than Dunkirk was. There's also Livonia who is also undefeated but I can't say I know a lot about them.

I'm well aware of Mynderse, but those wins you mention are not that impressive. First of all, all of those four teams fell in the first game of the sectionals, except for Newark who won the 8/9 game then lost to Aquinas 87-24. Newark was of course a shell of the team we all saw last year. Geneva and Pal-Mac both finished with solid regular season records, but both were bounced in their A-2 quarterfinal by a city league team, by twelve and twenty points respectively. Franklin also lost their A-1 quarterfinal by eleven to Sutherland.

Their other regular season opponents, such as Penn Yan, Marcus Whitman, Midlakes and Waterloo were fairly weak and also all lost their first sectional game. Thus, Mynderse may be a better team than Dunkirk, but they have still played a fairly weak schedule. Livonia's league schedule was stronger than that of Mynderse, having beaten Hornell, Bath and Way-Co all twice, but they did not play any strong teams non-league.

Lackawanna is still far more tested than both Mynderse and Livonia. Lackawanna/Newfane should be interesting...I would expect Newfane to use its size much better than Dunkirk did...the Newfane bigs really seem to work hard and rebound well.

TML1000 - Looks like you were right about Livonia. They got smoked in the semi's by 18 against Charlotte. Lackawanna may yet have a chance going to Glens Falls.

Before looking ahead to Section V, there's a pretty big task at hand this Saturday. It's going to be fun game to watch, that much I'm sure of.

sounds like livonia is Sec 5s version of dunkirk

Charlotte is a team who actually is fairly tested...much like Lackawanna...they took some early lumps but are better for it now. Their athleticism should carry them past Bath and should give Mynderse problems.

Now try to look ahead at Olean playing in B next year and beyond. Appears to be a lot of upside there.

Buffalo East will also be playing in B next year, but they will have a very young team next year.

I know the talk down in the "mid court range" of the first row was how the Buffalo News POY is a two man race between Chris Holland and Paige. But is there any doubt left that Paige has just about solidified his vote. 42 in the semifinal, started the game hotter than anyone this season so far. It was the most impressive performance I have seen this season so far. I know its a few weeks away but is there really any argument for any other player at this point? How much does everyone weigh the Falls game Saturday Night?
