Class C1
Middle College 77, Oracle Charter 65
Keir Anderson scored 22 of his game-high 32 points in the first half as the Kats held a five-point lead after the first quarter and at halftime. A 12-4 run that began midway through the third quarter extended the Middle College lead to 61-51 heading into the last stanza. The Phoenix closed to within seven points early in the fourth, but could never get any closer, as their 19-game winning streak and hopes of a sectional title came to an end.
Jamarr Cunningham led Oracle with 17 points, Eric Waters scored 13 points, and Gerald Bibbs added 12 points. Kevin Briggs added 17 points for the Kats in the win.
Class C2
Silver Creek 49, Portville 40
The Panthers became the first team to slow the streaking Black Knights this year, holding them to a season-low 49 points. However, Silver Creek proved they could capture victory in a defensive battle as well as they can run and gun, holding Portville standout Zach Blask to just two second half points and 10 for the game.
Zed Williams scored 21 points to lead the Knights to their second straight Class C2 title and a rematch with Middle College in the Class C crossover game, where they saw their season end last season.
Class D
Sherman 40, Brocton 27
After being held to just three points in the second quarter, Sherman limited the top seeded Bulldogs to only two points over the final 13 minutes of the game, finishing on a 17-2 run. The Wildcats claimed their first Section VI championship since 2002 and advance to the Far West Regionals to face the Section V representative at 1 pm on Saturday.
Ryan Robson scored a game-high 15 points in the victory.
