Class D
Franklinville #6
** According to the rankings...
- Lockport will advance to the regionals in Class AA for the first time since the Charlie Croff era.
- Fairport is soooo much better than Park (Does anyone sense my weekly rant coming?).
Going back a week, Amherst drops six spots after losing to Park, who is and was #1 in NYS Class A. Days later, Greece Athena loses to Fairport (#9 in NYS Class AA) and falls...get ready for it....a whopping one spot. Come on! Maybe no one else notices these type of inconsistencies, but they irritate me. Someone please explain why Amherst's loss to Park was viewed considerably worse than Athena's loss to Fairport. And oh by the way, Greece Athena lost AT HOME! Amherst lost on a neutral court.
- Olean is home to two of the top three teams in NYS Class B - the Huskies & Walsh, who draws from Olean's talent pool.
- Health Sciences cracks the top 25 in NYS Class B, following its win at Middle College, reaching #20. The panel is awful slow to come around on the Falcons, who have only lost at Park.
- Tapestry is advancing to regionals in Class C. They are now the only team from WNY ranked in the state in Class C. Middle College dropped right out of the poll - they were #4 last week. And East, who Middle College only beat by one, has never been ranked.
- McKinley's undefeated start and lopsided results continue to not impress the state rankings panel, as they are still barely in, occupying the #23 spot in Class A.
