Timon 58, Amherst 39
Joe Harrison and Davion Warren each scored 17 points for Timon, as they won all four quarters and methodically took care of Amherst. Harrison canned three 3-pointers on the evening, while Warren broke away for three dunks in the game.
Marcellus Cooper led Amherst with a team-high 12 points and opened the scoring for his team with a high-rising baseline finish with two-hands to ignite the crowd of spectators. Da'Shawn Hines scored seven points and Will Alfieri added six in the loss.
The game was a defensive battle throughout, with Amherst slowing the high-powered Timon offense with a zone. Timon seemed to have the edge on the boards and also committed to limiting their opponent on the defensive end, never allowing more than 11 points in a quarter.
"Our goal is to keep teams at no more than 40 points and we kept them at 39," said Timon coach Des Randall. "We defended well and rebounded pretty good - that allowed us to pull away."

St. Mary's 63, West Seneca East 59
Christian Szablewski scored 13 of his team-high 18 points in a first half where eight different Lancers scored as St. Mary's came out like a well-oiled machine and quickly took charge. Leading 20-8 after eight minutes of play, a 12-0 run to start the second quater pushed the Lancers to their largest lead of the game, 32-8, with 3:27 left in the half.
Trailing 34-15 at the break, the Trojans picked their heads up and came back strong. One possession at a time, West Seneca East began making up some of its deficit and sprinkled in some mini-runs to get within 11 points, 45-34, after three quarters. From the midway point of the third quarter until the end of the game, Dominick Farszmil took ownership for his team and tried putting them on his back in a comeback effort. His inspired play led to 21 points over the final 12 minutes, with 16 of his game-high 29 points coming in the fourth quarter.
Eric Brown also had a big fourth quarter for St. Mary's and was key to keeping his team from being overtaken late. Brown scored 11 of his 17 points in the final stanza and along with Daquan Hunt, sank clutch free throws in the final minute to seal the game when the Trojans twice got within two points.
"It was a tale of two halves," St. Mary's coach Paul Rath said. "We only had four turnovers in the first half and were taking good shots - rythm shots. We were forcing shots in the second half and too many turnovers at the end. Those are the little things we have to get better at and we can't afford to have."
"Credit to them I knew they were a good team and they came to play in the second half," said Rath.

Maryvale 58, Nichols 55 OT
The Flyers' double figure lead in the third quarter got lost in an avalanche of Will Johnson 3-pointers and the team had to fight to send the game to overtime. Once there, Brian Sullivan converted a three-point play and scored his team's only points of the extra session to lift Maryvale to the win. Ray Blackwell scored a game-high 28 points in the winning effort.
With the game tied midway through the second quarter, a trey from Sullivan sparked a 10-2 run to finish the first half and give Maryvale a 31-23 lead. Four minutes into the third quarter, the Flyers' lead reached 11 points and Nichols desperately need a spark...that's when Johnson became a one-man fire starter. The senior banged one 3-pointer after another, until had had buried a total of five long range bombs in just three minutes and brought his team all the way back to take a 43-41 lead heading to the final frame.
"We knew he could do that," Maryvale coach Mark Kensy said. "We changed up defenders and that helped."
An intense fourth quarter insued as the lead changed three times before Blackwell scored the last four points of regulation, including a pair of free throws with 15 seconds left, which sent the game to the extra session. The Flyers never allowed a field goal over the final four minutes and gave up just one point from the charity stripe after regulation.
"Ray (Blackwell) hit some big buckets, as did Brian (Sullivan) early," And I'll tell you what, Adam Meyerhofer did an outstanding job for us."
