******** According to the rankings above........
- That senior laden Fairport team that completely drubbed Niagara Falls by 30 points in the Class AA regional last season either had an awesome bench that didn't see much time or an undefeated JV team that moved up. They are the only team ranked (#17) from the Far West Region (Sections V & VI). I guess we will see, but I'll be surprised if Fairport shows up in March at Buff State for the regional and even more surprised if Falls doesn't beat them.
- Canisius' #2 ranking in NYS Class A would have them losing in the Federation championship to the PSAL team ranked ahead of them.
- There are six public schools ranked ahead of Williamsville South in Class A and nine publics ranked ahead of West Seneca West
- Health Sciences plays Westhill for a state title in Class B
- Olean loses its first game at Buff State to a team in Class B since the year 2000. Out of sight, out of mind?
- Niagara Catholic plays for a CHSAA state title in Class B, starting five underclassmen
- Chautauqua Lake draws Northstar Christian (yes a private school in Class C) in the regional again this season, with the same result - a private school advancing in the into the final four of the public state tournament in Class C. Please Northstar fans, spare me your enrollment numbers that "justify" it, or I'll mail you a yearbook from Walsh - a private school that competes in Class B, like all our small private schools do
- Franklinville returns to the state final four and wins its first game, before a loss in the final to defending champion Moriah
