(Juston Johnson and the Indians are the lone remaining team in WNY without a loss)
Large Schools
1. Park (MMA) - Enjoyed their first week at #1 and capped it off with a 90-60 win over Niagara Catholic. Following a trip to St. Mary's on Wednesday, the Pioneers will look to avenge their only local loss on Friday when they host Timon.
2. Canisius (MMA) - After their fall from the number one ranking, Canisius got out of St. Mary's with a 12-point win and then pulled out a victory in Rochester against Bishop Kearney.
3. Timon (MMA) - The Tigers need to stay sharp in a couple potential trap games with St. Mary's & O'Hara that proceed their trip to Park on Friday for the rematch. They were definitely ready for St. Francis on Friday afternoon.
4. West Seneca West (A1) - The Indians broke a school record for most points scored in a game, only to break their own record again in the following game. A total of 207 points were scored in their last two games against competition in Classes AA & A1. They also now have the third longest win streak in the state at 16 games. And yet the pollsters seem to want to poke the bear!
5. Williamsville South (A1) - For this season, the Billies can safely lay full claim to ownership of Main Street after another handling of Amherst. Now they set their sights on the 'Game of the Week' against Health Sciences in the Centercourt Classic, which will be their biggest test since a loss to Chaminade from Long Island.
6. Niagara Falls (AA) - The Wolverines played three in a row last week and won three in a row. That included trips to Toronto & Rochester, built around a 107 point outburst in a win over Niagara Wheatfield. Friday night is the rematch with North Tonawanda at the Lumberyard.
7. St. Francis (MMA) - Tough week for the Red Raiders last week with road losses at St. Mary's and Timon. It doesn't get any easier with the two opponents ahead, Niagara Catholic and Canisius. Monday night's game at home with the Patriots feels like a must win because heading into a game at Canisius on a three-game skid is an unenviable position.
8. Lockport (AA) - The Lions have come a long way from where the season started for them and added two more wins to the column last week over Amherst and North Tonawanda.
9. Williamsville North (AA) - Spartans coach Chuck Swierski earned his 200th career victory on Friday night in the team's fifth straight win. They hope to make it six straight and 201 on Tuesday when they host West Seneca West in ECIC I.
10. North Tonawanda (A1) - The Jacks seven-game win streak ended in Lockport last week. They'll try to get another one started and if they do, it'll be impressive with Falls coming in on Friday night.
Small Schools
1. Health Sciences (B2) - The Falcons have been rolling teams heading into the stretch run of the season. The back end of their schedule is loaded, beginning with a showcase of future Division I players in Saturday's 'Game of the Week' at Williamsville South.
2. Olean (B1) - The last two wins for the Huskies have come against Maryvale and Williamsville East, good for a nine-game win streak which improved the team to 13-1. They visit Dunkirk on Friday night and could all but wrap up another league title with a win there.
3. East (D) - After dropping three of four heading into the New Year, the Panthers are 5-0 since the calendar flipped and gaining momentum. They need a win at McKinley on Tuesday night, who beat them by three in December, to stay in first place in Yale Cup I. On Saturday, the Panthers face St. Mary's in the Centercourt Classic.
4. Middle College (B2) - Watched the Kats get out to a big lead on McKinley early on Friday and never relinquish it. That win keeps them in a tie with East at the top of the Yale Cup. Tuesday they draw the defending champs from South Park and the Sparks are looking to play spoiler.
5. Franklinville (D) - Avenged one of their two losses on the season by beating Burgard last week. The Panther have a rematch against Ellicottville on Tuesday that will decide how CCAA II East is won and then head north on Saturday afternoon to take on Medina in the Centercourt Classic.
6. Niagara Catholic (MMA) - How good is Park to beat these guys by 30? The Patriots are in the heart of their MMA schedule right now, having just faced Timon & Park, while looking ahead to games at St. Francis and against Canisius & St. Joe's this week. No nights off is what you sign up for in the MMA.
7. Cardinal O'Hara (MMA) - Speaking of no nights off, the Hawks just won three in a row last week against MMA competition. Now they'll try to keep it going at Timon on on Wednesday and at Canisius on Saturday.
8. St. Mary's (MMA) - The Lancers gutted out a great win on Wednesday night over visiting St. Francis, but the victory came with a high premium. Regular starters Eric Brown and Brady O'Brien were both knocked out of action that night and a 25-point loss at O'Hara followed with the team still missing Brown. Not the best time to be banged up with games coming up against Timon, Park, and East.
9. Tapestry (C) - Two impressive wins for the Thunderhawks happened last week, as they handled their business against Maritime, followed by a 12-point road win at Randolph.
10. Ellicottville (D) - The Eagles also won at Randolph this season by 11 points and also boast a 17-point win over Chautauqua Lake. They'd like nothing more than to add to their collection of impressive victories this week, hosting Franklinville for the league hardware on Tuesday night and a nonleague date with Class B Newfane in the Centercourt Classic at Williamsville South on Saturday afternoon.
