******** According to the rankings above........
- Rome Free Academy reappeared in the Class AA rankings, one spot ahead of Falls. Not that anyone should or would really care about that, but since I've mentioned them multiple times this season (they beat Falls & St. Francis in late December), just keeping you up to date.
- Canisius is back at #2 in NYS Class A. Park, West Seneca West, & Williamsville South all inched up a spot also, meaning WNY now has four of the top 11 teams ranked in NYS Class A. And that doesn't include Timon, who just lost to LeBron's alma mater and sits at #19. We even have our top ranked public school ahead of Irondequoit now. That means Section VI is projected to get past Section V in Class A. Now that would be something! The state rankings might project it, but I wouldn't predict it.
- Health Sciences & Olean remain #4 & #5 in NYS Class B. If they play each other this season, it would be exactly two weeks from today. But Middle College is #19 in NYS Class B and hopes Health Sciences is there in two weeks...supporting them playing the Huskies. Less than a week away from Middle College vs. Health. In Section V last week, Northstar Christian (#3 in NYS Class C & 19-1 on the year) knocked off Leadership Academy, the #1 seed in Section V Class A. That's a huge win for Northstar and I bring it up here because their only loss on the season occurred on the road against Middle College.
- Besides Northstar Christian, Section V also has Pembroke who is ranked #4 in class C and is 20-0. The teams that represents Rochester in the Far West Regional will be the favorite to advance to the state final four.
- Tapestry only slipped two spots in the NYS Class C rankings for losing to Section VI Class C #8 seed Maple Grove. They must have earned a lot of credit this season to get such a pass for that loss.
- In NYS Class D, East and Franklinville are now #2 and #3. That would project one of them facing defending state champ Moriah at the state final four, something I've predicted all season. Last week, Prattsburgh was ranked ahead of both. But a loss for Prattsburgh in the Steuben County Championship game to Addison (unranked in NYS Class C) caused them to drop to #6. So not the best team from Steuben County, but the best team from Class D in the Far West Region? No. That honor will go to the Franklinville vs East winner. After they beat Clyde Savannah.
