- Local fans who like watching talented big man need to create a bucket list and put getting to an Orchard Park game to see Seth Joba play right at the top of the list!
- On Thursday night, Cassadaga valley visits Portville to play their third contest of the week and 11th game of the season. You only get 20 regular season games and there are still two months left in the season. That’s a December to remember for the Cougars.
- Bryant Rosa scored a season-high 36 points in Riverside's win over MST Seneca. A couple nights later, he finished with 32 against Olmsted. That's five out of six games he’s played this season scoring at least 30 points.
- Riverside big man Dane Maku grabbed 18 boards in a win over MST Seneca, and another 16 against Olmsted on Friday, giving him 84 rebounds on the season.
- McKinley's win over Middle College on Thursday night marked the 18th straight win for the Macks against Yale Cup competition, a streak that now spans over three seasons.
- Through six games this season, Nichols sophomore Jakye Rainey has is drilling 46% of his 3-pointers. He's already cashed in on 32 bombs and is on a pace to break the WNY record of 120 treys in a season, set by Ritchie Campbell over 30 years ago.
- Canisius big man Declan Ryan has already turned in a pair of monster stat lines just four games into the season. After a 36 point & 18 rebound effort against Albany Academy, he opened league play with a 35 point outing versus Nichols. Both games were wins for the Crusaders.
- During the Jamestown/Hamburg game on Wednesday night, the massive student section for the Bulldogs found themselves next to some Jamestown alumni. As an intense & competitive game began to unfold, things got spirited between the fans who were sharing space. So for the second half, the entire student section moved to the opposite side of the gym and cheered from behind the Hamburg bench where the bleachers had been previously pushed in. I thought it added to the atmosphere having fans behind the team decked out in Christmas gear and with the squad the Bulldogs have and the competitive schedule they play, I hope start pulling all the bleachers out from the start to allow fans on both sides like old times. They have a great gymnasium there...would be a prime place to host a Classic!
- Undefeated teams for Christmas this season include the following: Health Sciences, Olean, Randolph, Riverside, Clymer, Dunkirk, and either Timon or Orchard Park ( they play tonight - which is like an awesome Christmas gift for me...two undefeated Top 10 teams with two of the very best talents in WNY, Seth Joba & Jaiden Harrison). Thank you Santa!
- Speaking of Timon's Jaiden Harrison, he joined the 1,000 point club in the team's win over East on Monday night. The sophomore, who I think will one day own the WNY scoring record, accomplished the feat on December 20th. By comparison, current record holder Dom Welch went over 1,000 on February 16th of his sophomore year. Other notable sophomores to eclipse 1,000 and the dates it happened on include: Jalen Bradberry (12/22), Roddy Gayle (1/3), Dan Scott (1/6), Tyler Hind (2/23), and Jalen Duff (3/1).
- The season has been a blast to this point and it's been so great having fans & events back, along with a regular schedule. The best part is, we still have the majority of the season to go, including all the best action (league play & postseason). As TB 12 would say, #LFG !!
