Large Schools
1. Health Sciences (A2) - The Falcons are now 4-0 on the season after earning a huge win in Jamestown Saturday night and earning the championship of the United Way Tournament.
2. Canisius (A) - Fell to 2-1 on the season Saturday afternoon in a loss at Aquinas. The first MMA game of the season tips on Tuesday night when the Crusaders visit Nichols.
3. St. Joe's (A) - Like their rivals on Delaware Avenue, the Marauders dropped one in Rochester at McQuaid on Saturday. They host the team that just defeated Canisius on Wednesday night when Aquinas visits.
4. Niagara Falls (AA) - After escaping with a one-point win over Ken West last week, the Wolverines got their mojo back in a win over North Tonawanda. They play at Lew-Port on Tuesday.
5. Jamestown (AA) - The Red Raiders opened their season Friday with a big win over Southwestern in the United Way Tournament, before falling to Health Sciences Saturday night in a game they led most of the way. They travel to Hamburg on Wednesday night for their league opener.
6. Orchard Park (AA) - I love a good surprise and the Quakers sure gave me one on Wednesday when I watched them beat Amherst. Not only are they a Top 10 squad, this OP team is led by one of the most talented players in our area, Seth Joba, a name everyone should expect to hear plenty more of as the season progresses.
7. Amherst (A2) - Fell to Orchard Park on Wednesday night, before rebounding with a 13-point win over Williamsville East, the 200th career coaching victory for Chris Kensy. The Tigers visit Sweet Home and host Ken West in the Jolly Boys Showcase this week.
8. St. Francis (A) - After a week off, the Red Raiders head into McKinley on Tuesday night and then host Lackawanna Thursday.
9. McKinley (A1) - Off to a 4-0 start, including last weeks pair of Yale Cup wins over Hutch Tech & Middle College. A great nonleague matchup is on tap Tuesday night when they host St. Francis.
10. Niagara Wheatfield (A1) - After earning a pair of Niagara Frontier League wins last week over North Tonawanda and Kenmore East, the Falcons will look to make it five straight victories and three straight in league when they cross over the Grand Island Bridge on Tuesday.
Small Schools
1. Timon (B) - Now 5-0 on the season and still no game closer than 23 points. The Tigers should face their first test of the season on Wednesday night when Orchard Park visits.
2. Tapestry (B2) - A pair of wins for the Thunderhawks last week over Nichols and Hutch-Tech. They hope to keep the momentum going in what should be a great game at O'Hara on Tuesday night.
3. Nichols (B) - Suffered their first loss of the season in a thriller at Tapestry and now face the task of beating Canisius on Tuesday to avoid dropping to straight.
4. Olean (B1) - Winners of the Olean Tip-Off Tournament & now the Joe DeCerbo Memorial Tournament after defeating Bradford & Allegany-Limestone this weekend. Toss in a win at Cardinal O'Hara and the Huskies are 5-0.
5. St. Mary's (B) - The Lancers are 7-0 and champs of the Depew Tournament following three more victories last week. Their undefeated status faces a big challenge on Tuesday at Orchard Park.
6. Cardinal O'Hara (B) - Won in resounding fashion at Medina before splitting a pair of games in Jamestown over the weekend, falling to Heath Sciences the night before a bounce back win over Southwestern.
7. Lackawanna (B1) - Champions of the Hamburg Lions Club Tournament after defeating the hosts from Frontier (who had just beat Hamburg). The Steelers host Eden on Tuesday and then travel to St. Francis on Thursday night.
8. Salamanca (C) - Wins over Portville and Ellicottville earned the Warriors the championship of the Joe DeCerbo Tournament over the weekend. A win over Springville this week would give them three straight victories heading into Christmas.
9. Randolph (C) - Knocked off Ellicottville by 20 and Silver Creek by 30 last week. Next up for the Cardinals is Springville.
10. Fredonia (B2) - Moved to 3-1 on the season with wins over Springville and Harbor Creek. They'll host Gowanda this week, open some presents over the weekend, and then start getting ready for a seven game stretch that will tell us a lot about where they're at.
No rankings next weekend, they return right after the New Year. Merry Christmas!!
