According to the rankings... ( It was a week of very minimal change, so this will be a light week of the 'According to' )
- There will be 7 state ranked teams featured in the 2023 Centercourt Classic at Hamburg on Saturday. Three of the games will have state ranked teams playing each other:
Class A #10 Amherst vs Class A #12 Canisius - 7 pm
Class AA #16 Jamestown vs Class B #4 Timon - 5:15 pm
Class B #11 vs Class C #15 Randolph - 3:30 pm
- Jalen Duff's former squad (Nichols) and the team he is leading (Lew-Port) now side-by-side in NYS Class B, at #11 & #12.
- Randolph's 18-point home loss to Southwestern (unranked in NYS Class B) was no biggie, as the Cardinals slipped just one spot to #15 in NYS Class C. However, Holland's 6-point home loss to Eden (unranked in NYS Class B) was enough to make the committee show the Dutchmen the door. Holland goes from #16 in NYS Class C to unranked.
- The most head-scratching thing I found was in Class D. And it's not even Westfield getting bounced from the rankings for its 3-point road loss at Sherman, after climbing to #12 in NYS Class D last week. What made me mess my hair up while head scratching was Clymer dropping from #9 to #10 in NYS Class D. The Pirates only game was an 8-point road win at Class C Chautauqua Lake. Apparently the folks on the NYSSWA ranking panel were expecting a real dismantling when Clymer headed over to Chautauqua Lake last week.
