The Buffalo eXtreme outlasted highly ranked Steel City Yellow Jackets this past Saturday, pulling off a 95-79 victory. Steel City arrived in Buffalo as a top 20 team nationally and came out running and gunning. Eventually the sheer depth of the eXtreme took over and pummeled Steel City into submission. The eXtreme now stand undefeated at 4-0 and have risen to #9 nationally in the rankings. Things do not get any easier as the 13th ranked Herkimer Originals visit the Buffalo eXtreme this Saturday, game time 7pm at the XGEN Sports Complex in West Seneca.
In last Saturday’s game, the eXtreme’s depth shined through as 6 players scored double digits. Javon McCrea had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, with 4 blocks. Sharp-shooter Quran DuBois and former Syracuse standout Howie Washington each filled it up with 19 points. The team also had solid contributions from Rodney Hawkins (10 pts, 7 rebounds), Marcellus Cooper (13 pts, 5 blocks) and ABA All-Star Marcus Feagin (10 pts, 18 rebounds).
“We are excited to come out on top against a great team like Pittsburgh, but we have a long ways to go and will continue progressing to our ultimate goal which is the ABA national championship,” said Head Coach Rich Jacob.
