** If I released a preseason First Team, Takal Molson would have been on it. At the time he played his last game at St. Mary's, he was still there. It's unknown how things would have turned out, and I didn't want to take someone else's spot in the top 25.....however, the season he had through 21 games warranted recognition, which he is getting here in his own space, next to the First Team, where I think he was headed.**

Breon Harris - Niagara Falls, Senior
12.0 PPG / 3.1 SPG / 2.8 APG / 2.1 RPG
Plays on-ball defense like there's nothing else in the world he would rather be doing. Plays every minute of the game at the same speed - full tilt. A threat from beyond the 3-point line or to blow past you on his way to the basket. Uses great instincts to create turnovers and opportunities in the offensive end. Led the Wolverines to an undefeated league championship in the NFL. Took the Falls on a postseason run that resulted in a string of double-digit victories and a Section VI title in Class AA. Selected to the Section VI Class AA All-Tournament Team. Earned Game MVP honors at the Cataract City Classic. A First Team All-Centercourt Defender, and there were none better. Fifth Team All-Centercourt
Brandon Roach - Olmsted, Senior
24.6 PPG / 6.1 RPG / 3.3 APG / 2.8 SPG
A pure point guard with the ability to fill up the rim. Always under control and shows great poise in pressure situations. A smooth stroke from outside and an eye for the open man on the inside. Led Olmsted to the Section VI Class C1 Championship. Voted Co-Player of the Year in Yale Cup II. Selected to the Section VI Class C1 All-Tournament Team. MVP of the Akron Tournament. Scored over 20 points in 19 games and went over 30 in four games, including a season-high 44 points in a win over Lafayette, when he shot 9 of 11 from beyond the arc. Olmsted's all-time leader in points, assists, steals, rebounds, and triple-doubles. Had a career-high of 50 points in his sophomore season. Career 1,000 point scorer. 10.0 PPG / 3.0 APG / 2.4 RPG / 2.3 SPG
The floor general for the state champion Huskies was a gamer. Took care of the ball and facilitated Olean's offense brilliantly. Always plays within the game and knows just the right time to attack the defense. Equally effective in half court sets and in transition. Tough and tenacious on the defensive end with exceptional timing. Led his team to the Federation title game in Class B after an undefeated NYSPHAA state championship campaign. Voted First Team CCAA I West. Selected to the Section VI Class B1 All-Tournament Team. A Second Team All-Centercourt Defender. All-Tournament Team selection in the OHS Tip-Off. Game-winning steal & score in overtime win at Fredonia. Scored game-winning points in Federation semifinal with 0.6 seconds left. (Photo by Jerry Trass)
11.2 PPG / 10.1 RPG / 1.8 BPG / 1.4 APG/1.3 SPG
An underrated standout in the paint who would make any team an instant contender, and was a major part of what made Canisius so good. A physical player that's strong & athletic with a long span. A gritty defender on every possession and a rim protector that frustrated opponents to no end. Aggressive to every loose ball and all over the boards at both ends. Led the best interior defense in WNY that resulted in another Manhattan Cup and a repeat CHSAA state championship in Class AA. A Second Team All-Centercourt Defender. Scored the game-winning basket with two seconds remaining at Timon. (Photo by Mark Mulville, Buffalo News)
16.4 PPG / 5.0 RPG / 2.9 APG / 1.7 RPG
A good long and mid-range shooter that was also adept at slashing through a defense on his way to the hole. Can transition from scorer to passer. Handled the ball well and showed good court sense. Was the Tigers' on court leader all season. Led Timon to a third place finish in the Monsignor Martin Class A. Voted All-Catholic in Class A. Scored over 20 points seven times, including a season-high 32 points against U-Prep. (Photo by Tom Burns)
13.3 PPG / 3.5 RPG / 2.3 APG / 1.4 SPG
A lethal shooter from beyond the arc. Can handle the ball or fill up the rim playing off the ball. Saw his scoring role increase this season for the Pioneers. Deceptively strong and runs the floor well in transition. Led the Pioneers to a 20-4 record and to the Manhattan Cup Final in Class A. Voted First Team All-Catholic in Class A. Scored in double figures in 16 games. Shot over 46% from the floor on the season. Scored 16 points in one quarter against Aquinas, the most allowed by the Class AA Federation finalists to any player in one quarter on the season. (Photo by Larry Scheur)

The Section VI postseason begins Tuesday night with Akron facing Oracle. The winner moves on to participate in the pre-quarterfinal round on Wednesday night at 7 pm. Friday night is when the action really kicks up, as 32 quarterfinal games will decide which teams move on to Buffalo State and JCC for the semifinals.
Below I take a look at some of the best matchups we could potentially see in the pre-quarterfinals, quarterfinals, semifinals, and even the championship games, along with sleepers, some winning streaks, and predictions.
** Please note that many of the games below are based on my predictions of who will win in prior rounds
Most exciting brackets, top to bottom:
8. A1
7. B1
6. C2
5. A2
4. D
3. C1
2. AA
1. B2
- The Class B2 bracket has league unbeaten I-Prep, who advanced to Glens Falls in Class D last season, as the #1 seed. Roy-Hart's only league losses were to N-O champ Medina and the Rams have all the pieces to win it. Gowanda won CCAA I East and finished with a 17-3 record. Health Sciences has been the highest ranked team from this bracket all season, and boasts a win at Middle College & South Park. Emerson pushed I-Prep in both regular season and gave them their two closest games in Yale Cup I. Fredonia has been a top 10 small school all season and nearly defeated Olean. MST Seneca & Wilson are both well coached teams with good players that are capable of pulling off upsets within the bracket.
Sleepers from each bracket
AA - Lancaster: Began the season with a win at Jamestown and did not lose a game until after Christmas.
A1 - South Park: The Sparks have lots of athletes and finished third in Yale Cup I behind McKinley & Middle College.
A2 - Maryvale: As the season has gone on, the Flyers have improved significantly. They won't be out-coached or out-worked and just beat Cheektowaga to help land the #4 seed.
B1 - East Aurora: Can the #3 seed even be a sleeper? My answer - the team in Olean's bracket with the best shot to beat them is the only team worth calling a sleeper, since no one is beating Olean. (Sorry Class B1, feel free to prove me wrong)
B2 - Fredonia: It feels weird to call the Hillbillies sleepers, but since they're the #6 seed, they qualify.
C1 - Chautauqua Lake: One of the best teams in Section VI that no one talks about. These guys just beat Dunkirk by 12, and Dunkirk owns a win over Cleveland Hill - the top seed in Class C1.
C2 - Barker: The Raiders may be the most improved team in Section VI after beginning the year 2-7. They collected recent wins over Newfane and Wilson (the only team to beat Medina in the N-O).
D - Sherman: The Class D champs in 2013 & 2014 and finalists in 2015, are the #4 seed and coming up on their favorite time of year.

Game of the Week - Park @ Canisius on Wednesday, February 3rd
- Yes, this was the 'Game of the Week' just two weeks ago. But let's be honest, the Bernard J. Kennedy Field House is where everyone with a pulse for the local HS hoops scene will want to be on Wednesday night for the highly anticipated regular season rematch. For most, it will be their first look at the two giants together on the same court this season.
Round One went to the Crusaders. After Park got cooking early and flew out to a 13-point lead, the Crusaders dug in and nearly came all the way back before halftime. As the second half wore on and Stafford Trueheart's big game performance kept getting bigger, Canisius took control and looked like the better team. Park, who can generate instant offense better than anyone, didn't turn up soon enough and a desperation heave from behind half court to tie as the buzzer sounded was as close as they got at the end.
Since the first big game, the Crusaders have played three straight state ranked teams, defeating Walsh and Aquinas, before finally seeing its 22-game win streak against teams from NYS snapped by Greece Athena at the RAP Showcase on Saturday night. They will have a chance to get right against Cardinal O'Hara on Monday, prior to the rematch with Park.
The Pioneers have only faced St. Francis since the first showdown, who they knocked off by nearly 50 points. They'll attempt to tune up for the Crusaders with another contest against St. Francis on Monday, this time in their gym.
While the first battle of #1 vs. #2 was awesome because we finally got to watch the defending Federation Champions square off, the rematch will offer significantly more fanfare as the amount of spectators for this one will dramatically increase due to the venue. I expect the basketball on the court to be equally entertaining to the show we were treated to on January 23rd, but for me, the view won't change. I'll be right back in my usual spot at...

Game of the Week - Canisius vs. McKinley on Saturday, January 16th at the MLK Classic
- The annual MLK Classic main event was never better than the 'Game of the Year' candidate that the Macks & Crusaders played last season. With the two local heavyweights once again among the few elite programs in the area, there's no reason to think this year's MLK Classic feature game will be anything less than spectacular.
The Macks are in need of a competitive game, and Canisius should be just the team to give them that and more. McKinley's closest game this season was a 15-point win in its opener against St. Francis. That game and a 16-point win over Williamsville North are the only games the Macks have won by less than 24 points, as they've averaged an astounding 32.7 point margin of victory through nine games.
The Crusaders are coming off a 36-point win over top ten large school St. Joe's, and have only lost one game - the championship game of an eight-team National Jesuit Tournament, to Geaorgetown Prep of Maryland. Cansisus' conquests this season already include wins over Aquinas, Bishop Kearney, and Williamsville South - the team that ended McKinley's season last year.
Plan on arriving early if you don't want to be forced to stand all game, or even worse, not get in. This marquee matchup packs them in every season, and for good reason - these two get after it. Canisius & McKinley have both been top five large schools in WNY now for the better part of a decade and both have won state championships since 2013. There's no other way I'd want to celebrate Martin Luther King weekend, than to watch the Crusaders and Macks battle for 32 minutes...or 36...or 40...or 44...hey, Mr. King could dream, and so can I.

Game of the Week - Lockport @ Niagara Falls on Tuesday, January 5th
- In 2014 after getting hit hard by graduation, Niagara Falls rolled out a lineup of fresh-faced underclassmen that would carry them over the next three seasons. That same year, Lockport boasted a senior-laden unit that would share league title honors in the NFL with Kenmore West. That Lions team was the first to ever sweep the Wolverines in a season and wound up advancing to Buffalo State for the Class AA semifinals.
Last season, it was Lockport that turned to a new group in its rotation, while a year of seasoning had helped the young Wolverines to get back on top of the NFL, sharing league crown honors with North Tonawanda. Niagara Falls returned to Buffalo State in Class AA last season and advanced to the sectional championship.
Entering this season, Niagara Falls came in with its best group since 2013 and were the preseason favorites to win both the NFL and Class AA. The Wolverines second game of the season was against Park, the top-ranked Class A team in NYS, a game they only lost by two points. That same night, Lockport caught the attention of area hoop followers with a 13-point win over St. Joe's.
Since that night, both Falls & Lockport have won all their league games. But it was some nonleague results that really set the stage for the Game of the Week. Starpoint played a game at Park and only lost by three points. They followed that up with a win over Timon. Then just three days later, the highly-regarded Spartans traveled to Lockport, and got thumped by 30 points. That same week, Niagara Falls coughed up a late lead at the ADPRO Challenge and lost to the same St. Joe's team that the Lions beat.
Suddenly, Lockport was the only team from WNY ranked by NYS in Class AA and also moved ahead of Niagara Falls in the local large school poll. The question that then arose - is Lockport now the favorite to win the NFL and Class AA this year? Maybe so, but I'm not making any proclamations just yet. The Lions suffered their first loss of the season to Aquinas over the break in a complete rout, and followed it up with a loss the next night to small school East of the Yale Cup.
Is Lockport back sliding or was it just a holiday slump? Is Niagara Falls still the team to beat after allowing the St. Joe's comeback? Thankfully we have the 'Game of the Week' to sort it all out, where I will be front & center(court) for - and yes, the winner will be the favorites in both the league and the section.

Game of the Week - Cheektowaga @ Amherst on Friday, January 23rd
- A late January game on a Friday night, between the two best teams in the league, who have developed an exciting and competitive rivalry. The game that may decide if ECIC III is a shared title or if it's owned outright. A game critical to the Class A2 seedings for sectionals a month from now. The Game of the Week.
Back in mid December, round one at Cheektowaga was a wild & epic affair. The game wasn't decided until TC Brown's contested 3-point attempt from straight away went in off the glass as the final buzzer rang. It managed to live up to a lot of preseason hype that was generated from a triad of encounters from the season prior, a year that seriously fueled this burgeoning rivalry. It doesn't hurt that both of these teams have players either.
Last season, Amherst won the league for a third straight time. However it was Cheektowaga who advanced farther in sectionals, ending the Tigers season in a wild overtime affair to win the Class A2 title - the first in Warrior history. It was also the third straight win over Amherst for the Warriors, who had knocked the league champs off twice in the regular season as well.
Most of the faces from last season are back for both teams. Over the last four games in this series, these guys have become quite familiar with each other. Cheektowaga's Dominick Welch and Amherst's TC Brown are returning 5th Team All-Centercourt selections. Zak Ciezki of the Warriors was All-Centercourt HM and just eclipsed the 1,000 point scoring mark for his career last week.
The atmosphere at the Jungle in Amherst will be as good as it gets on Friday. Tiger fans will be loud, both teams will be proud, and I'll be at the center of it all. Literally.

Wilson 47, Emerson 44
Kyle Bradley scored a game-high 22 points and Evan Shank added 18 points as the ninth seeded Lakemen defeated the eighth seeded Eagles at Hutch-Tech during the Section VI pre-quarterfinal round on Wednesday night. With the victory, Wilson advances to the quarterfinals on Friday night, where they will face the top seed in Class B2, East High, at Grover Cleveland.
The Eagles led a close contest for nearly the entire first half, but never gained anymore than four points separation from the Lakemen. Then during the final minute of the half, Wilson went on a 6-0 run to first tie, and then gain a lead heading into halftime. Just six seconds before intermission, Evan Shank scored on a layup set up by a steal to give the Lakemen a 25-21 advantage at the break, the largest lead at that point in the game held by either team.
Early in the third quarter, consecutive baskets from Bradley (one being a three-point play) stretched the Lakemen lead to 30-23. However, Emerson's Michael Simpson, who had scored 47 points in a league outing against Buffalo Arts a week earlier, scored nine of his team-high 22 points in the third quarter on three long treys, to bring the Eagles back to within three pooints, 37-34, heading into the final stanza.
A 10-2 run from Emerson over the first six minutes of the fourth quarter had the Eagles in the driver's seat & Lakemen fans on the edge of their seats, with a 44-39 lead, and just two minutes to play. But after a five-minute field goal drought from Wilson, Joe Littere sank a 3-pointer from the left side with 1:46 to play, igniting the young Lakemen squad. On the ensuing possession, Zach Sarratoria came up with a clutch steal on the defensive end for Wilson, which led to the Lakemen moving the ball to the other end in transition and finding an open Shank waiting on the perimeter, where he was money with the long-ball --- putting Wilson back in front, 45-44, with just over a minute remaining.
In the game's final minute, Wilson gained a defensive stop and then scored in its end on a putback from Bradley with 18 ticks left, making it 47-44. As Emerson attempted to get a game-tying '3' to fall in the closing moments, Sarratoria was there again to rip the ball away from one of the Eagle players and seal the sectional victory for Wilson.
Alden 65, Lafayette 52
Dylan Dussault was an interior force to be reckoned with and Brian Stoldt was inspiring on the defensive end, as Alden dominated Lafayette from start to finish in the pre-quarterfinal round on Wednesday night at City Honors. The victory vaults the Bulldogs into the quarterfinals on Friday night, where they will visit Tonawanda, a familiar ECIC IV foe who swept them in a pair of regular season meetings this season.
Before a large contingent of fans who made the trip in support of their Bulldogs, Alden got out to an early 16-7 advantage after one quarter. After trading buckets to start the second stanza, the Bulldogs went on a 14-5 run that pushed their lead to 32-14. Dussault scored 12 of his game-high 35 points in the second quarter and Alden enjoyed a comfortable 38-24 lead at the break. Dussault netted another 11 points in the third quarter, as Alden's lead reached 20 points at one point during that frame. Over the game's final eight minutes, the Bulldogs saw their lead top out at 22 points, before the Violets cut into it with a too-little-too-late push towards game's end.
Dussault was a matchup nightmare for Lafayette, who had no one to match his size or his intensity in the paint. He was equally effective posting up in half court sets and scoring, as he was converting in transition for Alden. Many of Dussaults transition points, along with a 14-point outing from Tyler Glaser, were made possible by Stoldt's lockdown defense on Lafayette standout Lester Diaz. The Bulldogs employed a box & 1 to limit the Violets general, a strategy that worked almost to perfection. With Stoldt attached at the hip to Diaz, the Violets did little to get the ball into his hands, and struggled to find any offense consistency, leading to missed shots that turned into fast break points for Alden.
Jovanny Vargas scored a team-high 19 points for Lafayette, while Adam Figueora added 13 points. Diaz was held to a season-low 12 points in his final game.

The Pastor-Cooper Showcase forges ahead for another season, honoring the memory of Al Pastor, Rose Pastor, Jerry Cooper, and David Cooper. The annual event is held at Daemen College and is free to all spectators, thanks to the generous contributions of its sponsors - most notably Santora's Pizza Pub & Grill and Ad Pro Sports.
This season's format includes one day with three girls varsity contests, followed by two straight days of boys varsity games, with four games played each day. The last day of the Showcase is loaded, with my vote for the event's marquee matchup being the East/Timon tilt.
Here is the schedule for the two days of boys varsity games:
Wednesday, December 4th
JFK vs. Cardinal O'Hara - 4:15 pm
Emerson vs. Holland - 5:45 pm
Williamsville East vs. Oracle Charter - 7:15 pm
Cheektowaga vs. Depew - 8:45 pm
Thursday, December 5th
Hutch-Tech vs. Tapestry Charter - 4:15 pm

The most commonly asked question right now is "where can I find the brackets?" Unfortunately, the answer continues to be...they're not ready yet.
Most coaches have a very good idea of which team or teams they are likely to draw, depending on how the last week plays out, and in turn their players and immediate fans of that team also know where the team they follow stands. But I'm sensing that WNY basketball fans want to see where every team stands, so I took this route instead...Ranking every team in Section VI, by class.
** Please note these are not seedings and do not reflect actual power points. This is simply how I rank the teams heading into sectionals, or, where I'd seed them if I ruled the world (the WNY basketball world). It's not a prediction of how I think the seedings will end up.

On Tuesday night at Canisius for its game against Bishop Kearney, as Keith McShea made his way to the media table where I was sitting, he walked past the Blue Crew and drew quite the "KEITH" ovation from the student section. Earlier, when I walked by them, I heard centercourt. I looked up to see them pointing out where the St. Joe's kids were sitting across the way.
There are eight remaining unbeaten teams in WNY. Three large schools: Jamestown, Williamsville North, and Sweet Home. Five small schools: Olean, Silver Creek, Newfane, Holland, and Clymer. We will be down to seven by December 26th, as Williamsville North hosts Holland in the first round of its tournament.
The song All I want for Christmas is you by Mariah Carey, always make me think of Depew, because I watched them warmup to the song at its Holiday Tournament in 2010. Actually, most Christmas music holds some HS basketball association for me because I'm always listening to it while driving to games in December.
Over the last three seasons, the Section VI sectionals program cover has featured Lew-Port/Wilson (2010), Lockport/Grand Island (2011), and Lockport/Ken West (2012). While the 2010 Lakemen made it to Buff State, the player from the cover photo never saw the floor in the semifinals. The other schools never even advanced to the semis. You have to go back to the cover of the 2009 program (Falls/Jamestown with TJ Crittenden & Marcus McAffee) to find players who competed on the court at Buff State.
In a 73-25 win over DaVinci, Emerson's Lenny Dowell was credited with the following stat line: 32 points, 21 boards, and 14 assists. If you include the assists, he would have accounted for at least 60 points (they led 55-22 through three quarters). Thursday at Olmsted, Dowell finished with two points and no field goals.
Speaking of Lenny Dowell, the Eagles' senior is joined in the starting lineup by his brothers, junior Marki and freshman Jason.
Once in awhile I get myself freaked out by scrolling too quickly, too far down while checking scores on the Buffalo News scoreboard page, and wind up looking at the girls scores without realizing it. It happened most recently on Monday night, when I saw Lancaster 43, Will North 31 and said out loud, "What"?
Cassadaga Valley's Randy Dalaba scored 24 points to go with 21 rebounds in a 64-50 win over Cattaraugus/Little Valley.
I'd like to see Olean get a playoff bye until the Class B1 title game, just to see who would emerge as the champ in the competitive B1 class without them in it.
The Canisius Crusaders Blue Crew participated in the final minute of pregame warmups with the team at Tuesday's win over Kearney.
Based on early season results, Bishop Kearney would be considered no better than the fourth best team if we ranked them in WNY, behind Falls, Olean, and Canisius. If I were ranking them, I'd put three more teams - Jamestown, St. Joe's, & McKinley ahead of them as well.
Barker junior Jake Haight set the new individual game season-high scoring mark for this season in WNY with 40 points in a win over Elba.
Olean routed Southwestern, 70-36, without the services of Sam Eckstrom.
One of my favorite parts of following high school basketball is seeing a player for the first time who I've read or heard about for a longtime. That was recently the case for such players as Frewsburg's Alex Elderkin, Portville's Zach Blask, Emerson's Lenny Dowell, Clarence's Bryan Jost, and Olmsted's Jalen Schumaker.
Olmsted plays the best version of the National Anthem ever recorded - Whitney Houston's rendition from Super Bowl XXV.

Three seasons ago, Olmsted began competing in the Yale Cup and Section VI. In their first season, the Owls won just three games under then coach, Michael Webster. Last season, Rich Skrabucha took over as the Owls' head man. Sweeping changes after just one season were immediate. Academics, attitude, character, work ethic, and commitment to the team became the expectation. That meant losing some players along the way and a lot of growing pains. Olmsted won just four games last year.
New approach, same results, right? Hardly.
Six games into this season, Olmsted is now 3-3. One of its loses was in overtime to City Honors and another was in the most unique and difficult gym in WNY to play at, Lafayette. Last night was my first opportunity to see the Owls play. I'm confident that I'll be seeing a lot more of them in the future.
The Owls hosted Emerson on Thursday night and showed right from the opening tip, which team wanted to win more. Olmsted closed the first quarter on a 10-2 run to go up 16-6, and then extended its halftime advantage to 29-14. After weathering Emerson's third quarter storm, the Owls closed things out in the fourth and came away with a 50-43 victory. Jalen Schumaker poured in a game-high 18 points and Malcolm Hendrick added 15 points. Emerson's leading scorer, Lenny Dowell, was held without a field goal and finished with just two points.

Silver Creek entered this season as the favorites in CCAA II and knew the top league contender would be Portville. The Black Knights needed a dramatic 3-pointer to force overtime and eventually earn a four-point win against the Panthers in the Class C2 semifinals last year. Sure enough, as the first meeting between the two schools rolled around, both came into the contest unbeaten. But as all those in attendance quickly found out last night, the gap between Silver Creek and its competition has only widened.
Silver Creek (8-0) built a 14-point lead after one quarter and were already up by 23 points at the half, en route to an 84-57 win. In typical Black Knights fashion, they got there by pressuring on defense, scoring in transition with the ball rarely touching the floor, and knocking down 3-pointers. Kaine Kettle (game-high 23 points) and Steve Marcey (16 points) each rained down four long-distance bombs, including the highest arching rainbow '3' I've seen all year from Kettle and a brilliant catch-and-shoot in the corner from Marcey. Both drew "Ahhs" from the home crowd.
Zed Williams was his usual self as well, leading the way defensively and forcing countless turnovers. Williams, who I feel is WNY's ultimate stat stuffer for his combination of rebounds, assists, steals, & blocks, finished with 22 points. His evening included converting the highlight play of the game: 6-7 sophomore Bill Brooks sent a full court outlet pass to Marcey, who delivered a fancy behind-the-back pass in stride to Williams for the finish. Showtime. Chill Showtime.
Zach Blask led Portville with 20 points, while Josh Watson scored 16 points.

The Players
Nine of the top 25 players from the 2012 All-Centercourt teams return to the WNY high school hoops scene, along with another 13 players that received Honorable Mentions following last season. In addition, many others are primed to have breakout seasons, while the influx of talented underclassmen continues to surface at multiple schools throughout WNY.
Returning 2012 1st Teamers
Adam Weir - Sr., Canisius: 18 ppg, 7 reb. Helped lead the Crusaders to a second straight Manhattan Cup championship, where he earned MVP honors, while leading team in postseason scoring. His familiarity with success on the Koessler Center floor should serve him well when he continues his hoops career with Canisius College after high school.
Sterling Taplin - Jr., Williamsville North: 19.1 ppg, 5.7 reb, 3.6 asst, 2.7 stl. Sank five 3-pointers and scored 13 of his game-high 26 points in the fourth quarter of the AA semifinal in an effort that fell just short of an upset bid against eventual champion Niagara Falls. Enters his junior season having already eclipsed 1,000 career points.
Returning 2012 Second Teamer
Jermaine Crumpton - Sr., Niagara Falls: 17 ppg, 7 reb, 3 asst, 2 blk. Helped to lead the Wolverines back to prominence as they recaptured the Class AA title, defeating Jamestown . Played very well against top competition, including game-highs in points and rebounds when Falls faced Milton, a team that finished in the top ten nationally in 2012. Crumpton will also continue playing hoops for Canisius College following graduation.
Returning 2012 Third Teamers
Tommy Campion - Sr., Jamestown: 18.6 ppg, 4.3 asst, 2.1 stls. The lone returning starter from the Class AA NYS runners-up in 2011, Campion's leadership and abilities on the court returned the Red Raiders to Class AA Section VI championship game. He shared ECIC I Player of the Year honors with Taplin thanks to his contributions in all phases of the game for Jamestown.
Sam Eckstrom - Jr., Olean: 14.8 ppg, 9.2 reb, 2.0 blk. Helped lead a Huskies squad loaded with expectations to the brink of a state title in just his sophomore campaign. His footwork and positioning in the post, along with a soft touch around the rim, make him the most fundamentally sound junior big man WNY has seen since Will Regan.
Wil Bathurst - Jr., Olean: 11.8 ppg, 7.6 reb, 2.2 asst. Complemented Eckstrom's talents wonderfully to give the Huskies a potent 1-2 punch. Combines raw athleticism with a silky-smooth style that allows him to shoot from anywhere, get to the basket (and above) with ease, and snag every rebound within his radius that Eckstrom didn't already secure.
Returning 2012 Fourth Teamer
Zed Williams - Sr., Silver Creek
Returning 2012 Fifth Teamers
JJ Wilkes - Sr., Niagara Falls
Darnell Carson - Sr., CSAT

Tonight's consolation matchups at Daemen College have been postponed due to weather cancelling school for all four teams. It is a strong possibility that the same thing could happen tomorrow night.
As of right now, a decision on a makeup date and time has not been made, but tournament officials and coaches are looking into options for making games up on Saturday.
UPDATE - A tentative plan is in place for making up the boys consolation games. The games are currently rescheduled for Saturday morning, begining at 9:30 am. However, that plan is contingent on the Buffalo Public Schools being plowed out and back in class tomorrow. If the Buffalo Schools are closed again tomorrow, the championship games would also be postponed...which could wind up changing everything.

The Greg D. Martin Tipoff Tournament at Iroquois (Alden, Kenmore East, East Aurora, Iroquois) has been postponed.
The Town of Hamburg Lions Tipoff tournament at Frontier (St. Francis, Lackawanna, Hamburg, Frontier) has been postponed.
The James Walker Tournament at Lew-Port (Lafayette, Starpoint, Lew-Port) has postponed the first game between Lafayette and Lew-Port. ** This is a round robin tournament format with only three teams. Friday's game between Lafayette and Starpoint will be contingent on whether the Buffalo Public Schools are in session. Saturday night's contest between Starpoint and Lew-Port will take place @ 7 pm.
Cheektowaga @ Emerson has been postponed.
Clymer @ Pine Valley and Falconer @ Cassadaga Valley are both still being played this evening at 7:30 pm.
